This is a very traditional image with the cat as the central subject. I like the use of the complementary colors on the cat however i feel the grass and even the background behind the grass could have benefited from using "non local" color they seem to be the same color as they normally are.
compositionally, the image is pretty sound. The diagonal created by the grass and sidewalk is critical to the image and i like that it is broken by the cat. I agree with lori that you could have strayed away from traditional colors a little more, but the image still works in my opinion.
i think maybe a little experimentation with the composition and position of the cat within the frame would be a good thing. i think its ok to keep a similar color in the grass. i can tell its not the exact same and doesnt reflect the natural world.
there are some interesting unusual qualities stylistically to the image. i can't quite figure out what it is what draws me to it! it feels like a weird dream. the colors are organic and expected but there is some twist to it!
I do enjoy the pallette of colors you chose for this pretty puddy tat image. Your diagnol lines work well within the image as well.Push yourself a bit more experiment, make mistakes sometimes they lead to something surprising and beautiful.
